Next steps for the DMC:  Code and Accreditation Plans

Now that the Data Use and Access Bill has been passed, the DMC plans, in 2026, to re-instate its application to become an independent Monitoring Body (IMB) accredited to the Information Commissioners Office.  If this plan proceeds, then the DMC’s remit will be to enforce the DMA’s GDPR Code of Conduct whilst also continuing to enforce the DMA Code

Organisations will be given the opportunity to sign up to the GDPR Code following a rigorous compliance audit and once registered, any complaints in relation to the Code will be investigated by the DMC.  Organisations that are registered with the scheme will undergo regular monitoring to ensure continued compliance.

The DMC has been working hard to ensure we are fit for this purpose, to improve our policies and procedures and raise our awareness.  In our new guise, we will be entirely independent of the DMA and completely self-funding.
